Magic 107.7 will host the fifth annual Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Radiothon beginning Thursday, February 10 th through Sunday, February 13, 2005. During last year's Radiothon listeners pledged $402,901 for the pediatric programs at Shands Children's Hospital at UF and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women.
Dave Collins and Leslye Gale, the Magic 107.7 morning team, along with midday host Brenda Matthews and afternoon show host Ken Payne, will begin the four-day "Magic Cares 4 Kids" Radiothon at 6 a.m. Thursday morning. The show will broadcast live from the atrium of Arnold Palmer Hospital where the hosts interview hospitalized children and their families and the hospital staff who care for them, asking listeners to call in pledges to benefit CMN.
CMN began in 1983 to raise funds for children's hospitals and awareness of the services they provide. Today, there are 170 CMN hospitals throughout the United States and Canada . The money raised through CMN sponsors and programs in each community benefits the local participating CMN hospitals. Proceeds from the Magic Cares 4 Kids Radiothon will benefit the pediatric programs at Shands Children's Hospital at UF and Arnold Palmer Hospital through Greater Orlando Children's Miracle Network. The money is used to fund equipment, research and programs that ensure these hospitals are able to provide the most advance level of medical care for children.
