Wal-Mart Associates and SAM'S Club
Partners WalkTogether to Help Children
ORLANDO , FL , April 1, 2004 – On Saturday,
April 24, 2004 , over 150 Wal-Mart associates and Sam's Club
partners from Central Florida as well as their customers will
begin at Constitution Park at Summerlin and South Street and
walk 5 miles through downtown Orlando to benefit Greater Orlando
Children's Miracle Network. Walkers are encouraged to collect
pledges from customers, friends, and family members. This
year, for the first time walkers will participate in a ‘poker
walk' portion of the event. Go to your local Wal-Mart or Sam's

Wal-Mart and Sam's Clubs in Central
Florida raised over $235,000 for Greater Orlando Children's
Miracle Network in 2003 alone. Proceeds from the Annual Wal-Mart
Walk for Kids will benefit the pediatric programs at Shands
Children's Hospital at the University of Florida and Arnold
Palmer Hospital for Children & Women through Greater Orlando
Children's Miracle Network. This money is used to purchase
patient care equipment, fund research, provide diversionary
activities and produce patient education materials.
Children's Miracle Network (CMN) began in
1983 to actively support better health care for kids. Today
more than 170 hospitals throughout the United States and Canada
, specializing in treating children, make up CMN. Children's
Miracle Network hospitals help 17 million kids each year -
kids with cancer, birth defects and pediatric AIDS...organ
transplant patients and accident victims...and children living
with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, cystic fibrosis,
kidney disease and heart disease. The organization is unique
in that money raised locally stays in the local community
to benefit the participating CMN hospitals.
