UCF teams up with local high school students in a 12 hour fundraising event to benefit Children's Miracle Network

WHERE : UCF Student Union Pegasus Ballroom

The University of Central Florida’s (UCF) Dance Marathon board is hosting the second annual mini Dance Marathon in the UCF Student Union Pegasus Ballroom.  This event will take place on December 11th from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. with all proceeds benefiting Shands Children’s Hospital at the University of Florida and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women through Greater Orlando Children’s Miracle Network (CMN).

Over 250 local high school students have signed up to raise funds and will make a statement by standing on their feet for 12 hours to benefit children at these two children’s hospitals. The marathon is not only dancing, it is music, games, food, contests, fun, and excitement. Exciting themes are planned for every hour to keep the dancers upbeat.  The most important aspect of the event, is that students will have a good time with their friends while working for a great cause. 

Dancers will have the privilege of meeting some local children and their families who have benefited from CMN funds in the past and have overcome incredible odds.  These Miracle Children are an inspiration to the dancers as they strive to complete the entire 12 hours.

The money raised at Dance To Give Kids A Chance will help make it possible for these two CMN hospitals to enrich their pediatric programs with research, special care equipment and a wide range of services that may not otherwise be available.

UCF’s Dance Marathon is the only completely student run, campus wide philanthropic event.  College students team up and raise money all year long to dance at Dance Marathon.  They must stay awake and on their feet for 24 hours. The Dance Marathon will take place March 5 – 6, 2005.
