Magic 107.7 Cares 4 Kids Radiothon Raises $402,901 for Children’s Miracle Network

ORLANDO, FL, February 16, 2004 - Magic 107.7concluded their fourth Children’s Miracle Network (Children's Miracle Network) Radiothon at 6 p.m. Sunday, February 15, raising $402,901 for Shands Children’s Hospital at the University of Florida and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women.

Dave Collins and Leslye Gale, the Magic 107.7 morning team, along with midday host Brenda Matthews and afternoon show host Ken Payne, began the four-day “Magic Cares 4 Kids” Radiothon at 6 a.m. Thursday morning.  The show was broadcast live from the atrium of Arnold Palmer Hospital where the hosts interviewed hospitalized children and their families and hospital staff who care for them, asking listeners to call in pledges to benefit Children's Miracle Network.  More than 2,000 listeners called in during the broadcast to pledge their support and share stories of their own experiences at Shands Children’s Hospital and Arnold Palmer Hospital.

Children's Miracle Network began in 1983 to raise funds for children’s hospitals and awareness of the services they provide.  Today, there are 170 Children's Miracle Network hospitals throughout the United States and Canada.  The money raised through Children's Miracle Network sponsors and programs in each community benefits the local participating Children's Miracle Network hospitals. Proceeds from the Magic Cares 4 Kids Radiothon will benefit the pediatric programs at Shands Children's Hospital and Arnold Palmer Hospital through Greater Orlando Children's Miracle Network.  The money is used to fund equipment, research and programs that ensure these hospitals are able to provide the most advance level of medical care for children.
