Cocoa Beach RE/MAX Office Gives A Special Gift To
Cape Canaveral, FL, January 2, 2008 – RE/MAX Elite’s McCoy Freeman Real Estate Group recently donated their commission from the sale of a very special home to Children’s Miracle Network.
The $3,600 donation to Children's Miracle Network resulted from the sale of a Brevard County home left to charity by Cape Canaveral humanitarian Earl Wyatt Winters, a doctor of optometry who gave to countless charities during his life. Dr. Winters died last year leaving instructions to disburse proceeds from the sale of the home to a number of causes. When RE/MAX Elite got involved as the realtor representing the listing, they wanted to give something back, too, and pledged their own donation to Children's Miracle Network upon the sale of the home.
RE/MAX has been the official real estate sponsor of Children's Miracle Network since 1992, raising more than $65 million for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals throughout North America. In Central Florida, RE/MAX has donated more than $1.9 million to Shands Children’s Hospital at the University of Florida and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Central Florida’s Children's Miracle Network hospitals. In addition to special events, RE/MAX associates throughout Central Florida participate in the Miracle Home Program, making donations on behalf of each transaction they close.
“One of the things we love most about our partnership with RE/MAX is the commitment these associates make to helping hospitals help kids through their business every day,” said Sandy McPherson, Director, Greater Orlando Children's Miracle Network. “Helping others is an integral part of their business plan and we see the impact of that commitment in the world-class pediatric care provided by our hospitals.”
Since 1983, Children's Miracle Network has been actively supporting better health care for kids by generating funds and awareness for more than 170 associated hospitals. The organization is unique in that the money that is raised in each community benefits the local participating Children's Miracle Network hospital. Shands Children's Hospital at the University of Florida and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children are the participating Children's Miracle Network hospitals in Central Florida and share the funds raised through Greater Orlando Children's Miracle Network. Funds are used to purchase patient care equipment, fund research and provide educational programs and diversionary activities for the more than 350,000 children treated at Shands Children's Hospital and Arnold Palmer Hospital each year.
