Carson - Winter Garden
When he was 5 years old, Carson was diagnosed with Stage IV neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer of the nervous system that is tough to beat. The news was grim - the cancer that had started in his adrenal gland had spread to Carson's bones, bone marrow and kidney. He would need surgery and a grueling course of treatment to survive.
Over the next two and a half years, Carson spent 160 days in the hospital. Following surgery to remove his left kidney, Carson underwent chemotherapy at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children then spent three months at Shands Children's Hospital at UF where he underwent a stem cell transplant and radiation. Today Carson is back to good health!
Although he undergoes testing every three months and participates in a research study, he prefers to spend his time enjoying basketball, video games and Cub Scouts like little boys should.
