Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children
Expanding to Create a Sanctuary of Home and Healing for Central Florida Children
Truly the "hospital built for kids,"
Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children provides a comforting
atmosphere that minimizes stress, easing children's fears
through specially designed programs to help them adapt to
hospital life. The hospital's specialized programs and services
include a level lll neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric
intensive care, a specialized pediatric critical care transport
ambulance, hematology/oncology services, infectious disease
specialties and a congenital heart institute in partnership
with Miami Children's Hospital. An integral part of the children's
hospital is the Bert Martin's Champions for Children Emergency
Department & Trauma Center.
Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women &
Babies opened in May 2006 to continue to provide expert care
for women from pre-childbirth to menopause and to meet the
community's growing needs. Over 12,000 babies are delivered
there each year making it the busiest labor and delivery unit
in Florida with the 4th largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
in the country. A special pedestrian bridge for added efficiency
links the two hospitals. Together, Arnold Palmer Hospital
for Children and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies
form the Arnold Palmer Medical Center - the largest facility
dedicated to children and women in the United States.
